Introduction

Harihar fort or we can say Harihar Kila which is located in the Trimbakeshwar Mountain Range in Nashik, Maharashtra. It was made between the 9th and the 14th centuries and was made by Yadava Dynasty. This historical site is a great attraction for people who want a short holiday trekking. This trek is not so adventurous but is no less enjoyable. The trek is situated at an altitude of 3676 ft and will enjoy the thrilling climbing because of the iconic steps which are almost 80 degrees vertically inclined. There you can admire the ancient idols of hanuman, shiva, and Nandi. You will be guided by the professionals that will take care of your trek. You will experience the high-altitude peaks such as Bhaskargad, Anjaneri fort, Brahmagiri, and Utwad fort.

Introduction: 

The Yadava dynasty constructed this fort and was made between the 9th and 14th centuries. This fort was repeatedly attacked and seized by many invaders and this is one of the forts that were owned by the Ahmadnagar Sultanate. But now it is one of the most attractive places for trekking. But you have to climb the rock-cut steps that were 80 degrees inclined and this is the major difficulty part of this trek in all of the Sahyadri Range Because these vertically inclined steps appear to be rectangular. These rock-cut stairs are 200 feet above and have a total of 200 steps. 

You can reach there by two routs,

One by the base village to the plateau and another by the plateau to the peak through vertical steps.

Starting point- Nirgud pada village

Duration- 6-7 hours

Height- 3676 feet

The age limit is set as children above 15 yr old are allowed only. This trek is a fun trek. The meeting point is the kasara railway station. There you experience glimpses of surrounding hills in lgatpuri. During the Harihar night trek, the professionals will accompany you. You can experience trekking through the dense wilderness. The duration of this trek is one day and night and also depends on the people for how much time they want to stay.

The main attractions are, Lord hanuman and shiva and Nandi idols and small ponds.

This trek is full of excitement and thrilling.

It is preferred to visit this trek from July to February, you can enjoy the beautiful views there, and is a most attractive place during monsoon season. 

The field is full of grasses and hilltop areas which gives a clear view of prominent forts.

Day 1-

-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station.

-Byculla station

-Dadar station

-Kurla station

-Ghatkopar station

-Thane station

-Kalyan station

-Kasara station

Day 2-

Start you adventure

When you reach the hilltop, your heart will fall in love with the beautiful plateau’s astonishing views. The aura of greenery and the panoramic view will feel like such a blessing to you.

Not to miss things:

Trimbakeshwar Shiva Jyotirlinga temple is situated near the Harihar fort and is famous for its incredible architecture.

Vaitarna falls, this is a beautiful scene, and no one can resist himself to visit and seeing that beautiful place.

Points to remember:

The timing for the trek is between 12:30 pm to 2:00 am. 

You should take essential items with you such as glucose and energy bars and also your essential medicines that need to be carried. 

No need to take permission for trekking from any organization or forest department.

Wear comfortable and suitable clothes and shoes.

It is difficult at a part when the real climbing starts so it is not advisable for people with medical conditions.

The trek will need approx 90 minutes to reach the top and almost 50 minutes t explore it.

During monsoons due to slippery stairs, it became difficult.

Trekkers are responsible for their baggage and their own safety.

It is advised to wear trekking shoes.

Avoid taking heavy and nonessential items with you.

Smoking and drinking are not allowed.

Things like raincoats, walking sticks, binoculars, hiking shoe glucose, and energy bars are advisable to take.
